9C is a static class of Year 9 students lead by Mrs Chum and supported by Miss Dodds and Mrs Laverick.
9 C is made up of 12 students who all have MLD and some require additional support, such as OT and SALT to access learning. They have two consistent TA’s who will be with them for every lesson. All the students use verbal communication but are beginning to learn Makaton as an additional support. They take part in an adapted curriculum, being static for some subjects, such as Geography, History and PSHE and transitioning to other subjects. The students enjoy a more practical approach to learning although they can manage a standard teaching method with classroom support. The class use the Zones of Regulation daily to support their understanding of emotions and use a visual timetable to support their understanding of each day. 9 C are a very friendly and welcoming group of students who give their best effort to anything that is put to them.
