KS2 Formal

Rowan

Rowan are a class of year 3 pupils and we are developing our independence now we are in Key Stage 2.

We are taught by Mrs Franklin and our teaching assistants are Mrs Turnbull, Miss Garrity and Miss Flynn. We are enjoying lots of new learning and we are using all of our new knowledge to produce some amazing work! We have a wide range of learning styles which our staff team use to create some fabulous lessons for us to enjoy.

We are a friendly bunch and are really caring and kind towards each other. We enjoy celebrating each other’s achievements and success and you will often hear us cheering and applauding for our friends!

Beech

Beech class children are all in year six, we have a small, warm and friendly classroom, with nine children based in the main room and others accessing a bespoke curriculum to meet their individual needs. We have five staff members who work between the classroom and 1:1 activities. The class teacher is Miss Clark and our teaching assistants are, Miss Lamb, Miss Birbeck, Miss Fearon and Mrs Page.

We are very hard working and are learning to become as independent as possible in everything that we do. We are always busy and like to learn from lots of practical tasks that will prepare us for secondary and life after Croft.

On a Thursday, some of Beech class have the opportunity to explore their inner Bear Grylls at Haystax. We experience adventurous activities including, fire lighting, toasting marshmallows, hammock building, arts, crafts and sensory play.

Hazel

Hazel class is a Year 4 class consisting of 11 pupils.  The class teacher is Mrs Leonard, supported by Miss McGuigan (HLTA) and our nurturing team of teaching assistants Miss O’Keeffe, Mr Haywood and Miss Franklin.   Every day is exciting and different and we aim to provide a unique, stimulating and inspiring environment where children, grow, flourish and thrive.  Our curriculum sparks excitement and pupils’ natural curiosity and ensures that each child reaches their full potential and continues to grow independence and confidence in their learning.   We promote growth mindset within our learning environment and are always looking for opportunities for pupils to learn and improve their skills and knowledge.

Birch

Welcome to Birch Class at Croft Community School!
In Birch Class, we’re all about discovering, exploring, and learning in ways that work for us. With 12 enthusiastic Year 5 students, our classroom is a vibrant place where everyone is eager to learn and grow each day. Here at Croft Community School, we celebrate what makes each of us unique and support one another every step of the way.
One of the highlights of our week is learning British Sign Language, which brings us together and helps us communicate in new and meaningful ways. We have a love of reading, getting creative and bringing stories to life during our reading sessions, where every book opens a new adventure!
In Birch, we’re not just classmates—we’re a team that looks out for each other, learns together, and celebrates each achievement, big or small! Our dedicated staff team is here to make every day in Birch Class exciting and supportive. Miss Tench, who is our Class Teacher, leads the way, alongside our fantastic Teaching Assistants: Miss Lamb, Mr. Heywood, and Mrs. Dunn. Together, they bring learning to life with activities tailored to each of us, so we can Aspire, Believe, Achieve!

Birch class consist of 14 Year 5 children. There are four members of staff in Birch; Mrs Kennedy is the class teacher, who works alongside Miss Brannan, Miss Walker and Miss Anderson, who are the Learning Support Assistants.

We love to learn and are keen to come to school each day. We are a friendly class and look after each other. One of our favourite lessons is learning British Sign Language. We love having fun and reading, we all achieved a Blue Peter Reading badge this year, which made us very proud!
