Super Start!!
P3 were introduced to the new topic ‘All creatures great and small’.
Pupils were asked the big question ‘How do we know we are alive?’
Some answers were:
“because your heart is beating”, “because our blood and our heart”, “because we are breathing” and “because we eat and drink”.
We then discussed different things that were living “animals” and “plants”.
Today we went on the bus to the garden centre to buy some seeds to firstly grow in class before we move them to the wildlife garden P3 are going to design and create.
We also looked at different animals’ habitats.
We found a pond but couldn’t see any animals. We did see a snowy owl.
We enjoyed looking at all the colourful fish in the aquarium.
We paid for our seeds and then went to explore outside,

Comic strip conversations
I have been working with Mr. Anderson on comic strip conversations. They use pictures to help me understand social situations. We do some called ‘blips and slips’ for when things go wrong. We do some called ‘wins and grins’ when things go well.
Feeding Families hamper delivery P5
Some of our P5 students delivered the hampers to the two families this afternoon with Miss Herkes and Mr Davis. They did a fab job of packing and wrapping the hampers, buying final bits in Tesco and delivering them to the families’ houses. The 2 families were so grateful, they gave us a card and little gift from the children to show their appreciation!! Thank you to everyone who donated something for the hamper and thanks to the students who helped during the whole process, this really is what Christmas is about.
Beamish
All term our pupils have been working hard to earn Croft coins. Pupils could then spend their coins on a trip or treat. Some of our pupils chose to visit Santa at Beamish as part of their reward.
We had a fantastic time exploring the town and found out all about the dentist. We visited the co op and went to watch some sweets being made in the sweet shop.
We were lucky enough to visit Santa and feed the reindeer.
We then had a ride on the Puffing Billy steam train.
Miss Robson’s Pupil of the WEEK!
Miss Robson wanted to thank a young gentlemen this week for all his support yesterday during the reward trip to pizza hut.
Not only did he help Miss Robson but he noticed when his peers needed help and went straight over to support. Whether this be helping them with a drink or to get another slice of pizza.
Keep up all the hard work and kind gestures. Have a fantastic Christmas!
Why should I wash my hands?
To round off our work on Alexander Flaming and bacteria, P2 invited parents to take part in a mold experiment. Children pressed unwashed hands onto a fresh slice of bread, they then washed their hands and repeated the process. We placed these into individual zip locked bags. So we could compare the results we also put a slice of untouched bread into a zip lock bag. We have waited a week to see the results. Here they are…
Untouched bread has no mold spores
Touched by unwashed hands has lots of unhealthy mold spores.
Hmmm….. we need to wash all our hand and not just our palms.
If we wash our hands properly the results are clear.
We are hoping this demonstrates to the children the importance of washing our hands before we eat and after we have been to the toilet.
Feeeding Families
A big thank you to all of you who donated food for the hampers. Some of our students have packed them all up and made them look beautiful ready to deliver to the family tomorrow.
Christmas Fayre at Croft
All primary and secondary pastoral classes at Croft Community School prepared a stall and sold Christmas goodies for all to buy. The PTA also sold some amazing Christmas pressies and decorations.
