P1 Pizzas
After reading the story ‘Supertato’, P1 made some vegetable pizzas. We were very interested in looking at the insides of the vegetables.
P3 have spent this week learning about their host country Brazil.
We looked at the world map and found where Brazil was before going on Google Earth and looking at different places in Brazil.
CB “Brazil is in South America”
We learnt about Brazilian carnivals, we practiced dancing and made carnival masks.
In English we wrote invitations to our friends inviting them to our carnival.
We also looked at different types of Brazilian food and made some in class for our P3 Carnival.
We had to follow the recipes, taking it in turns and weighing the ingredients.
We made flour tortillas
Salsa
Brigadeiros
We then had a party to share everything we had learnt with our friends.
These are some of the things our friends learnt.
Some very dodgy visitors came to P7 today as contenders for the English crown – William of Normandy (looked a lot like Mr Davis); Harald Hardrada (how scary was he!); Edgar Etheling (he was okay) and Harold Godwinson ( a bit sly!). The Witan (committee) interviewed each candidate, before making the final decision and voting for Edgar Etheling. Alas, history is a lot more blood thirsty and Harold Godwinson was the real winner back in 1066. Not for long though…
P8 have been building from their imagination this morning working together creating towers, pyramids, houses and bridges.
At the end of last term primary and secondary pupils from Croft Community School enjoyed a rewards fayre where pupils who had earned behaviour coins throughout the term could spend them on rides, activities and food.
We have been tasting some healthy food in P1. We have read the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We explored the fruit from the story and followed instructions to make a fruit salad and a fruit smoothie.
We talked about keeping ourselves safe and we know that we need to be careful with the equipment.
We could say if we liked the fruit salad and smoothie or not.
Croft Community School has held its first student election. Pupil Voice representatives from each of the classes expressed that they would like to take part in the voting for Head Students 2019/20 – previously candidates had been interviewed for these posts by the Senior Leadership Team. All students from Years 6-11 took part in the vote this afternoon following on from the Head Student candidates delivering the campaign speeches in assembly this morning.
The results of the vote will be published later on today!
P5 are reading The Well by Mildred D Taylor. This week we have been reading together, looking at key words, setting and characters.
