Scavenger Hunt
P5 had a great time learning outdoors. They were given a scavenger hunt challenge and were given a list of items to find in the outdoor area.
The children could choose to work alone or with a friend and they were keen to find all of the items on the list. The children needed to explain what they had found and what uses the objects had.
On the list was to find something interesting and Mrs Kennedy was thrilled to be handed a very fast moving black beetle!! The children also needed to find something a fairy or goblin could use-we had some amazing ideas!
What an imaginative class we are!!
Striking and Fielding Festival
Year 5/6 from P4/5 had an amazing time representing Croft at a Striking and Fielding festival, which was held at North Durham Academy. We showed off our skills participating in a range of activities from diamond cricket to wobble throw.
We all had a great time and were very supportive of each other-a real team effort. Well done!!
P3 Media Magic
Today P3 were introduced to the final part of our topic ‘Media Magic’. We transformed the classroom into a cinema and set up a shop selling popcorn, crisps and juice.
P3 took it in turns to ask for snacks from the shop, they had to work out the total and some pupils worked out how much change they needed.
After the film we then played charades, P3 reenacted Disney films without speaking and the other pupils needed to guess which film it was.
We are excited to see what our next task will be.
P4 go shopping!
The children spent a happy morning at Washington Galleries, interviewing market stall holders to find out more about their businesses. We also explored Sainsbury’s and some of the subtle ways that shoppers are persuaded to spend money. The smell of baking bread can be very influential!
Day 3 Residential for Y9/10/11
To round off this weeks residential, the group went to the impressive Ashgill Force where we slid, jumped and fell into Ashgill Beck. Students were amazingly brave, some even thought they could fly!!
The day P3 became scientists
In science today P3 were learning about electricity. They enjoyed carrying out experiments.
First experiment P3 had to predict whether or not the bulb would light up using tin foil, plastic or wood and recorded the results.
Second experiment was to make a circuit using a bulb, battery and two wires. P3 were either given a diagram to follow to make the circuit and light the bulb or independently through trial and error.
They then replaced the bulb with a buzzer or motor.
P3 really enjoyed science today.
Day 2 Residential for Y9/10/11
Had another adventure packed day of rock climbing followed by rafting on the River Tyne. Still enough energy for a Just Dance dance-off!
