In English, we are reading the book Journey by Aaron Becker. The story has no text and shows a journey and the events which happen along the way. Today we worked in teams studying illustrations from the book and discussing what speech or thoughts could be happening to match the illustrations. We then wrote these in thought and speech bubbles.
Today the pupils in Birch combined their learning from outdoor learning and Topic to tidying up their vegetable bedding planter and then searched for sticks of equal length and width to use as part of the God’s eye for topic. The pupils watched a short video clip of the tutorial of making the Gods eye, which originated from the Spanish and is a spiritual and votive object made by weaving a design out of yarn upon a wooden cross and each point of the eye represented Earth, Water, Fire and air.
WHOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPP!!!!!! Beech have worked so hard on their reimagined pallet planter which involved painting, composting and potting on some beautiful red, white and blue flowers!

In maths this week we focussed on fractions having equal parts.
We cut up pancakes into 1/2 (half) and 1/4 (quarter).
We used the segments of an orange and put them into thirds, and for a challenge we succeeded to cut a cupcake into sixths.
The children recognised that when they halved, quartered and cut the food up into thirds, the parts had to be equal!
We had lots of fun and the children enjoyed eating the snacks after🥞🧁🍊
9H had a lovely day yesterday celebrating the Queens jubilee!
We listened to lots of 1950s songs, decorated cupcakes.
We made a cake as a class for the competition and 9H won🥇.
We coloured in some great pictures, did some creative writing for the time capsule and had lots of fun taking part in the quiz.
In the afternoon we enjoyed having a dance to the band, followed by a little class buffet!

All classes in school were set the challenge of creating a Union Jack from recyclable materials. Each class created unique flags using a variety of materials and techniques; weaving, collage, image transfer, and painting. Amazing creativity from all year groups.
We had the best day in Maple class for the Queens Jubilee.
On the morning we read a story called ‘The Queens Hat’ and then drew our very own Queen Elizabeth.
One we completed that, we had been working very hard on our flag. We made this from any materials we have found around the classroom and the school.

On the afternoon we enjoyed a tea party, and then went to have a dance in the Sports Hall as there was a live swing band playing. This was so much fun.

10F absolutely loved making a flag, from recycled materials, 
together for the Jubilee celebrations. Who knew crisps could look as good as they taste! Well done everyone 🌟
Class 9R have really enjoyed making our Jubilee Flag. We have used recycled fabric in the colours of the Union Jack. We have all been involved in the cutting and sticking of the fabric and have added a personal touch using our handprints as part of the flag. This took a lot of time and effort but we all agree that a fantastic job was done by all!
Wow, what a fun filled day. 11V have enjoyed flag and cake decorating, a British themed Kahoot and quiz. We enjoyed dancing to The Swing Band’s music and then finished off the day with a buffet 🇬🇧 👸🏼
