Planting our sunflower seeds!
We planted out sunflower seeds for our outdoor learning. We cant wait to watch them grow!
9R Model making.
Pupils used fine and gross motor skills to join materials together in the first step of building our own Wizard’s castle/house in response to their English book ‘Whizzbang Wizard’ and also the artist Annalise Rees. They used communication, problem solving, and decision making skills to work as a team. Everyone was feeling proud of what they achieved in Art this week.
Handas Surprise in PE
In Maple we have been reading a book called Handas Surprise. This book has lots of different wild animals in it with lots of exotic fruits.
In PE we have been creating movements that each of animals would do. This has been super fun interpreting these animals as we were travelling around the room in lots of different speeds.
We read the story as a group before moving around the room.
We were swinging from trees like monkeys, standing tall and running fast like an ostrich. We even had super long trunks like an elephant.
We used props such as fruit, masks and characters so it would come to life. Everyone got super warm and most importantly had FUN!
Traffic Survey Year 9R (Geography Article 28)
Year 9 pupils in Geography conducted a traffic survey identifying the amount of traffic that pass our school. The group completed a bar chart to find out that the most vehicles that past were delivery vans. During the discussion it was noted that their is a lot of pollution in the air due to the fumes from the cars.
Arctic Igloos
In Maple to end our Arctic theme we have made our very own igloos.
We started by having a feel of the clay as this was a new texture for a lot of our pupils. Some of our children decided to wear gloves so their hands did not get dirty,
Once we got used to the texture we practised making the clay into a ball ready to roll out.
We used water to help smooth out our shapes.
These then took a few days to dry.
Once these were dry we painted then white.
We were very happy with how our finished results looked.

Treats and Crafts in Maple
We have had such a busy week in Maple class.
For the end of our arctic animal week we decided to explore big ice cubes to see how they felt.
A lot of our children said it made their hands very cold and that it was very slippy!
Some of our children even had a little taste!
Eventually we found out that our ice became smaller and was melting, This made a big puddle in our sensory tray.
We then spent our Friday afternoon creating something very yummy for snack.
We made our very own tomato and cheese pizzas. This was super fun to make and even better to eat!

We were then super lucky in Maple and enjoyed a ice cream!
We had three different flavours; strawberry, vanilla and chocolate.
Ending our busy week to one of our wonderful pupils making us giggle with a selfie.

RSPB Big Bird Watch
We spent an hour observing birds that came onto out school grounds. We had lots of birds visit our grounds because of our homemade bird feeders! We created a tally chart and took turns observing all the different kinds of birds that visited. We sent the results to the RSPB!
Grace Darling Debate
We watched a short video in English and then spoke about how William Darling was treat very different to Grace Darling. The children debated about if it was to happen today what would happen and would it have had such an impact in todays worlds.
