Evening Everybody

Another class will be opening at Croft next week. This means we will need more staff in school to work with them. It will also mean that testing in school will take longer. Both of these factors will have an impact on the remote learning timetable and the number of lessons teachers will be available to conduct these live lessons.

Yellow boxes on the timetable are when teachers are unavailable as they are in school.  Red boxes are for when teachers are absent.  Mr Nutt, who normally works in the Primary department will be in school supporting classes and  will be available to lead some online lessons on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  He is covering Miss Herkes’ lessons.

Classroom support assistants will still be available online to support learning for the lesson that your child has on their timetable and teachers will record some lessons that pupils can access from the POSTS part of your child’s class TEAMS account.     Please check the POSTS for these lessons.

A brilliant piece of work produced by one of our Year 11 pupils in his remote history lesson today, describing and explaining the causes of the American boom economy in the 1920’s.

We are continually updating our blended learning and so we have updated some information about how this will work in future.  We have also emailed out a guide about how to use TEAMS.

 

1.We will continue to send work packs out every two weeks and the work will also be available on the TEAMS page of the class that your child is in.  This will be on the POSTS section of the class page so that pupils can dowload the work if they would prefer to work that way.

2. Teachers will post the invites to the lessons on the same page as well as the calandar so pupils will know what type of lesson it is.

3. The term ‘Live Lesson’ means that teachers will be online and will be able to support pupil’s learning. Some of the invitations will be for lessons where teachers have recorded a lesson and shared this with pupils and will be online to support their learning.  Other lessons will be catch-up sessions but there will be a brief description about the sort of lesson it is.

4.Assessing work- pupils can return their work to have it marked in a number of ways:-

They can send it by class dojo by taking a photograph and then sending it to their portfolio on the class dojo page, teachers will then mark the work and send a comment back via the same method.

They can upload it to the folder ‘Returned work’ on the class TEAMS page where teachers will mark it and then message the pupils about their work. This will be sent to pupils by email or on the Post Page of the class TEAMS page.

Pupils can email their work directly to the teacher and attach the work where the teacher will mark the work and return it via email directly to the pupils.

Pupils can keep the work at home and return it when they come back to school.

I’m sure you will have seen in the news about Free School Meals and the voucher system being reintroduced. We applied for vouchers yesterday as we were only allocated 1 day to go online and do this via the ordering system. We have applied for the vouchers for those pupils who are eligible for the whole of this half term starting from the 18th January and were informed that this could take up to four days to come through. These vouchers will be sent directly to the email addresses that we have for you so please check your emails including the Junk folders. The voucher can then be used at the stores that you can find on the link below, once you have redeeemed it. If we did not have an email address we have asked for them to be sent to school where we will print them off and post them out to you as soon as we get them. If you previously had requested a hamper the vouchers will now replace these instead.

We have been learning about  the Stone Age and Mrs Kennedy asked us to draw a cave painting each! We used our hands as stencils and coffee to age the paper! We drew some hunters and animals just like they did in the Stone Age to help tell a story.
