Secondary Remote Learning Timetable
Good Afternoon
Attached is the timetable of lessons for the forthcoming week.
All lessons in blue are live lessons and students will be invited to attend by their teacher – the lesson invitations will be in the students email on their school Office365 account.
Secondary staff will be available during all other lessons via TEAMS chat or email.
Lessons may be subject to change should staffing issues arise but you will be informed of any changes in advance where possible.
If you need any support will accessing Teams – the attached video should help.
If you need your child’s email account please let me know via email at n.beckham@croft.school or via a private message on the school Facebook page, and I will forward it to you.
Many Thanks for your continued support in these challenging times.
Covid-19 update
Afternoon Everybody
Two more members of staff have received a positive test result for Covid-19 which will have an impact on some of our Secondary pupils.
Pupils in 7G, some pupils in 8R,8O and 8H will now have to isolate 14 days from last Friday so will return to school on Monday 9th November. These pupils parents/carers will be contacted by text shortly.
Remote learning will be offered to those pupils affected so please check invitations to your child’s Teams account.
Again, I would like to reiterate that all staff in school continue to follow the risk assessments and guidelines stringently but due to the establishment we work in it is necessary to work in close proximity to our pupils at times.
Apologies for the continually changing situation but as you can imagine it is a very fluid situation.
As ever, if you have any questions or queries please get in touch via this page or the school Facebook page.
We wish our staff a speedy recovery.
Covid-19 update
Afternoon Everybody
More bad news I’m afraid, we now have had 6 members of staff all test positive for Covid-19. Due to staffing numbers in Primary and the fact that these members of staff work in different classes we have no alternative but to close down all Primary classes next week. Obviously these 6 members of staff have worked alongside colleagues who have to self-isolate and due to the way Primary schools work we will also be sending out a text message with dates for those pupils who will now have to self-isolate.
All Primary pupils will be able to return on the 9th November, I will contact Education transport to inform them of this.
I can only apologise and reassure you that staff have been following the guidance within school with regard to managing risks and that this is the very last thing we wanted to do.
We will be operating some remote learning via the pupils’ Teams email addresses during the first week back so please keep in touch with the Facebook and school website for more information.
If you have any questions or queries about this information please don’t hesitate to get in touch via the website or this page.
Letter from the Director of Education
Dear Parents
Firstly can I thank everyone, children, parents and school staff alike for their efforts during this first term back to school. Although it’s been a challenge for many we have started to see a steady rhythm within schools living under covid measures. Thank you.
It is in this respect that I write to you today. With the high rates of COVID-19 in County Durham currently, I am asking parents to let the school know if their child tests positive for COVID-19 during the half term break. If your son or daughter receives a positive COVID-19 test after Friday 23rd October 2020 please contact the school immediately via the Facebook messenger page or by contacting school via the email address that can be found here: https://www.croftcommunityschool.co.uk/contact-us/ and provide the following information:
Name of child
Class/year group
Date of the COVID-19 test
Does the child have symptoms? Yes or No
What date did the symptoms start?
What date did the child last attend school?
It is very important that you provide this information so that the school can identify any close contacts that your son or daughter may have had in school during their infectious period. The school will then follow up close contacts and request that they isolate for 14 days to prevent further transmission of COVID-19. Please note that you should also report any close contacts that your child has had outside the school setting through NHS Test and Trace. If you are unable to speak to your school please make sure you have provided information of all close contacts within the school to NHS Test and Trace.
In addition I know our children and young people will still want to see their friends during the holidays, but please can I remind all parents that children and young people must not meet up in groups larger than six people (of any age) and that young people should not be gathering indoors with friends. Please also remember where they do meet up in groups of six or less they should still observe social distancing and good hand hygiene. Helping our children and young people to understand the importance of this will help to keep us all safe and healthy.
Thank you again for your help in this matter and I wish you a safe and well half term break.
Your sincerely
Amanda Healy, Director of Public Health for County Durham
Richard Crane, Head of Education and Skills
Updates relating to Covid.
Afternoon Everybody
Bad news I’m afraid, our other members of staff have tested positive. We have sent a text message to pupils, parents and carers who have been in close contact with the members of staff with information about self-isolation.
The Primary department will be deep cleaned before the pupils in Primary return.
Due to the numbers of staff having to self-isolate it is with a heavy heart we will have close the 5 Primary classes on Monday and Tuesday. Hazel will return to school on Wednesday 4th November.
Birch and Rowan pupils need to self-isolate but will return to school on Thursday 5th November as will Maple and Beech.
If you require any further information or have any questions please get in touch via the Facebook or school email address which is on this webpage.
