We have followed all the protocols as prescribed by PHE and Durham County Council.
One of our members of staff tested positive yesterday and DCC were contacted last night. We have also contacted PHE.

We received a phone call at 7:07 this morning and have begun attempting to sort out contacts with the member of staff.

An official letter will be posted here and on the Facebook page later today.

The only pupils who have been in contact with the member of staff are the pupils in the Secondary bubble.

If your child was in school on Monday 14th September and is in year 10 they must isolate for 14 days from then.

If your child was in school on Monday 14th September and is in 9F they must isolate for 14 days from then.

If your child is in 8R and your child was in school on Tuesday your child must isolate 14 days from the 15th September (there are some pupils this will not apply to and will be contacted directly)

If your child was in school on Wednesday and is in 9B they must isolate for 14 days from the 16th September.

If your child is in 😯 and was in school on Thursday they must isolate 14 days from then, the 17th September.

Letters will be sent out via the website and Facebook page later today as will further updates.

Any information or advice please get in touch and we will answer as soon as possible.

If your child is in Year 11 and was in school on Friday they must isolate 14 days from then, the 18th September.

A deep clean is taking place in school tomorrow.

Huge apologies for the late text message and Facebook/website update but we have just been informed that one of our members of staff has tested positive for Coronovirus. We have followed the procedures put in place and are awaiting further guidance from PHE with regard to the next steps.

It is with huge regret that we feel that we have no further option but to close the school tomorrow to carry out a deep clean to try and ensure that we can keep our staff and pupils as safe as possible. Transport has been informed and other agencies have also been notified.

Further updates will appear throughout tomorrow, in the meantime staff have been uploading work onto pupils’ Teams accounts which can be accessed via their emails.

We are really sorry about this and we are all very much aware of the stress and anxiety that this may cause.

Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. Just a reminder about September’s Self-Care Calendar. Try this out as a family – a little activity each day. It is even more important to be kind to yourself during these tough times.

 

Remember: self-care is not selfish, you cannot pour from an empty cup!

Following the decision to implement a local lockdown in County Durham we are going to have to change our regulations in school with reference to the wearing of face masks.
The County Durham website states:
Unless exempt, in education settings where students in Year 7 and above are educated,………., face coverings should be worn by staff, visitors and students when moving around in corridors and communal areas.

For our school this means that Secondary pupils will be wearing masks on the transport and keeping these on when transitioning to their classroom in the morning. If pupils wish to keep them on in class this will be fine.
Pupils will then have to wear them when going out to break and returning from break and back to their classrooms.
Pupils must also wear masks when going out for their lunch break and when they return. They must also wear them when going down for lunch and when returning to their classrooms and when going to their taxis. Staff will also be wearing face masks when moving around school along corridors and when in the hall.
Any visitors into school is by appointment only and they too will be required to wear masks.
We have a small supply of facemasks that pupils can be given tomorrow but pupils will need to bring their own from Monday.

As part of year 8s team building tasks in Outdoor Education they were challenged with a progressive trip wire maze to navigage. We disscussed our reactions to sucess and failure and ways to build resilliance from this.

This week at Croft every Pastoral Class is nominating and voting for their class Pupil Voice representative. Our new Head of Pupil Voice is Jazmine Henderson in Year 11 who was voted by the Pupil Voice steering group last academic year. Good luck Jazmine and can’t wait to meet the whole new group.

There is an updated information sheet below which we have adapted from another school which we thought was really clear and straight forward in terms of what to do if your child displays any symptoms. If in any doubt please don’t hesitate to get in touch with school but can I please remind you of the importance of contacting school if your child is going to be absent.

Secondly, I am so proud of how well your children have adapted to their first week back and the changes we have introduced. They have been amazing in how well they have engaged in their education and the adjustments we have made and will continue to have to make.
