Maple Madness 26/06/2023
Another super busy week in Maple. We have been working super hard and listening so well!
We have been working on our fine motor skills, practising lots of threading and catching a little ball. These types of activities are helping us write. Making our work super neat!
When our lovely class has completed their work super fast they are able to have some choice time. These have been our most popular items that we have had out. Our sensory board is new, its been a big hit in class.
In Geography we have been looking at what is manmade and what has formed naturally. We have also been comparing Mexico to Stanley to see if they would look the same or have similar things. We then created our own version of what Stanley looks like.
Pride Day Maple
In Maple we have been working really hard on our classroom door.
We wanted it so bright and colourful!
We had a special treat and some of the secondary students came down to Maple and read us a special story which linked into our day. It was so lovely and they read soooo well! Maple children were super sitters and loved the story.
We then created our headbands. We used lots of different materials such as feathers, jewels and ribbon. These looked so good and we were very proud of them.
GLAMEROUS
Now it was time for our PARADEEEE!!!
We loved our parade, there was cheering, music on and we danced the afternoon away. It was funny as we saw our class teachers dance too!
What a lovely day:)
Beech celebrate Pride month in style!
We had so much fun learning all about what Pride is and the meaning of LGBTQ+.
All of our children have thoroughly enjoyed the day and we are so proud to have such an inclusive class and school.
We would like to say a massive thank you to all the amazing parents and carers who supported today.
Maple 22/06/2023
In Maple we have been super busy so this post will be showing parents what we have been up to recently.
Science:
In Science we have been learning about different parts of the body. A small group worked with Miss Garrity, Miss Birbeck and Miss Franklin. We drew around a child and then stuck labels of body parts onto the body we have drawn.
Once we put our labels on we have decorated our person with tissue paper and they have been put up in call on display.
In science we have also been learning about our different senses. We set out loads of activities to which the children then completed with their eyes open and closed and then we talked about the different senses that they have used.
Outside Time:
We have had some glorious sun across our Maple yard. The children have loved playing outside with water play, babies and the sandpit. We have been taking our bottles outside to keep nice and hydrated!
Our brilliant 9G Engineers.
Just wanted to post up a couple of photos of our brilliant young engineers in 9G. Two students both won awards last night in the tutor for excellent and creative designs in the young engineer competition. We are proud of you both!
If you were an engineer what would you do?
Good Evening Everyone
We’ve been to the University of Sunderland tonight to celebrate the successes of some of our amazing pupils. We entered a competition where pupils had to create a new invention to deal with some of the problems in the world today. After completing some amazing work to create their new inventions and competing with schools around the country with over 28’000 entries 3 of our pupils won through to the final of the competition and exhibition.
Huge congratulations to Sophie F in Year 7 and Josh in Year 9 who were in the highly commended category and to the overall winner Daniel in Year 9.
We are so proud of you all and well done to our inspirational young engineers
Facts about Maya people!
During our lesson for Topic we split into two groups and worked together looking at fact cards and writing down facts that we thought was most interesting. The children did great teamwork and identities facts that they all found interesting and different about Maya people.
