Good Evening Everyone
Hope you are well and enjoying the last few days of the holidays. We have updated the arrangements for when we return in September and I will put these on the website and the Facebook page on Tuesday when hopefully all advice and information from the Government is completed.
In the meantime here is a summary in the short term.
Pupils will return to school on Thursday.
The timings of the school day will be the same but this will be subject to change once we have returned.
Both Primary and Secondary pupils will be arriving at school in the same minibuses.
Secondary pupils will be dropped off at the top gate where they will be met by their form staff.
Primary pupils will be dropped off at the bottom gates where they will be met by their classroom staff.
Lunches – pupils can bring in packed lunches. These should be in either a plastic container that needs to be taken home and thoroughly cleaned every day or in a sealed disposable bag which will be binned at the end of lunch. Any containers left in school at the end of the day will unfortunately have to be binned.
Bags- pupils can bring in bags but these must remain in the form class at all times until home time.
Phones and other electronic devices can be used for the journey to school but must be handed in to form staff. These will be then stored in the safe in the office and returned at the end of the school day.
All pupils will be provided with their own stationary pack that only they must use. They will also be given their own personal laptop.
Masks- current advice is “pupils have to wear masks on public transport and on dedicated home to school transport, so children over 11 will be required to wear masks in those circumstances. “But where children are with the same consistent group of people each day, then the current scientific advice is that it’s not necessary to do so.”
Advice is changing all the time with regard to masks, we do not want masks to be a distraction in class but we understand that for some of our pupils it will help them to feel more confident about returning to school. To support parental preference at this time we will allow pupils to wear a mask within the classroom under the following conditions:
Parents have informed us they wish their child to wear a mask.
Both parents and the pupil accept that the mask must be worn throughout the day and will be removed as minimally as possible.
The pupil will place the mask in the labelled Ziploc bag and will leave it there when requested by staff.
Both parents and pupil accept that the mask will be plain with no potentially offensive images or messages.
If a mask is to be worn for the duration of travel the mask must be removed when in the form class and placed in the labelled Ziploc bag.
Hands will be washed after handling the mask.
Only the straps will be touched.
Disposable masks will be placed in the classroom bin.
If you have any further questions or queries please don’t hesitate to get in touch with school via phone, email or via the Facebook page or website.
