On a chilly Friday morning P4 were set with a challenge of creating some environmental art. They rose to the challenge and went into the outdoor area to carefully select some natural objects. On their return to class they used their imagination and even made their own paintbrushes using sticks and foliage. They even used their writing skills to write about what they had created. What a creative team!

What an amazing time we had competing at a Table Top Cricket Festival at Durham Riverside Cricket Ground.
Both of our teams had tough competition, but we used great skill to score many runs.
It was great meeting new friends from different schools in our region and most importantly we had brilliant fun!
Well done everyone who competed.
UNICEF Article 29: We all have the right to develop our talents and abilities.
P3 have been on another adventure to Beamish Wild. We went on a walk looking for different animals and possible habitats.
Today we saw lots of birds in the trees and insects hiding in the mud.
We decided to use modelling clay to make our own animals that we thought might be living in Beamish Wild woods.
We made a fox, snail, worm, bird, squirrel and a rabbit.
We then went into the adventure area and moved like different animals.
Swinging across the tyres like “monkeys”, crawling through tunnels like “spiders”,
climbing like “gorillas” and balancing like “birds” on a branch.
We are excited to go back next month to see what types of animals we might find in the spring months.
On Tuesday some Year 11 students visited East Durham College at Houghall campus to have a taster day and look at the courses and facilities they offer. Pupils heard about foundation, animal care, equine, dog grooming and farming courses that the college has for young people.
P3 enjoyed learning about Shrove Tuesday.
Mrs Convery explained about why we make pancakes today and discussed the meaning of Lent.
We took it in turns to measure the ingredients and mix them together.
We then went to the cookery room to cook our pancakes.
Mrs Convery made us all laugh when she started to flip them. Thankfully Mrs Convery has very good hand eye co-ordination and the pancakes landed back in the frying pan.
We then chose a filling and enjoyed eating them.

Just a quick note that a summary of the parental survey results have been compiled and put on the school website. These can be found under the Parent Tab on the website, there are also some other documents related to questions and suggestions that came back from the surveys. These are in the form of a ‘You Said, We did’ document. Hope you find them useful and if there is any other information you need please don’t hesitate to contact the school.
Today at Croft Community School secondary pupils all voted in the Youth Parliament election. 11 representatives from each secondary pastoral class were entered into a vote where all students voted for two pupils to become our Youth Parliament members from school. Head people Logan and Orhan helped man the polling station as each pupil had their stay. Many came close to winning the prestigious posts but in the end Adam in Year 7 and Callum in Year 9 came out on top.
What an amazing day we have had across school today. Every class was busy creating artwork based around the British Values in each curriculum area. We have lots more photos to upload but here is a mosaic of our pupils wearing the colours of the Union Jack flag.
