Year 11 have been working towards increasing their independence in the community and went out this afternoon to practise their personal and road safety skills in the community. Whilst they were out they visited a local shop and made a small purchase ensuring they followed safety rules in the shop and remembered to use their manners when being served. The cashier at the end of the visit commented “What a lovely respectable group of pupils we had”. The group really enjoyed it and worked together as a group to complete the risk assessment and identify rules to abide by when representing Croft school in the local community. Timur said “Always respect your environment and be aware of your surroundings”. Peter reminded the group to be polite to other members of the public. As a treat for half term pupils made a small purchase of a snack and a drink where staff assessed their management of money skills. We will continue to work on this next term.
