Some of our school eco-committee helped plant Blackthorn trees which were donated by the Smoke Free Durham Stop Smoking support service. This tree we planted will offset the carbon created by the manufacturing process for the tobacco that an average smoker uses in just 2 weeks! Trees need to be felled to make the paper, and the drying process of the tobacco leaves creates carbon too. So smoking isn’t just bad for our health it is bad for the environment too. We will be working with the team again over this year to raise our awareness further.
